Six Flags Over Texas has announced that Pirates of Speelunker Cave, an all-new ride experience, will make its debut on Saturday, May 14, 2022. This state-of-the-art attraction will place guests squarely in the middle of a pirate treasure hunt thwarted by resident Speelunkers.
Pass Holder and Legacy Member Preview
Six Flags Over Texas is inviting all 2022 Pass Holders and Legacy Members to experience Pirates of Speelunker Cave before it opens to the public on Friday, May 13 from 11:00am to 5:00pm.
As an exclusive benefit, Ultimate and Extreme Pass Holders, plus Legacy Diamond Elite and Diamond Members will receive expedited access during the preview day.
During the preview, Flash Pass and Skip the Line Passes will not be accepted on Pirates of Speelunker Cave.
Pirates of Speelunker Cave Writing Contest
Six Flags Over Texas is launching an all-new interactive dark ride for 2022 – Pirates of Speelunker Cave. To celebrate, the park is hosting a short-story writing contest for elementary school students in grades 3-5 in the North Texas area.
The deadline to enter the writing contest is May 6, 2022.
Casting Call for Commercial Film Shoot
Six Flags Over Texas is looking for individuals to participate in a commercial film shoot for Pirates of Speelunker Cave on Wednesday, May 11 from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
All participants must be at least 18 years old OR attend with a parent/guardian over 18 years old.
Deadline to submit an application with a headshot is May 5, 2022.
Ride Overview
An all-new entry plaza will welcome adventurers with coastal theming and an open vantage point of the ride’s first descent into Speelunker Cave. Once aboard their six-passenger boat, riders will experience 17 brand-new scenes that combine state-of-the-art cinematic projection with immersive sets and animatronics.
Pirates of Speelunker Cave is a re-imagining of one of the park’s first attractions, The Cave, that operated from 1964 until 1991 and replaces the current version of the attraction—Yosemite Sam and the Gold River Adventure. The Cave featured original characters called Speelunkers that were created exclusively for Six Flags Over Texas.
Pirates of Speelunker Cave will feature:
26 six-passenger boats;
State-of-the-art animatronics throughout the ride experience; and
Cinema-style, wide-projection technology to fully immerse riders with high-tech digital and physical sets.
