¡Viva la Fiesta! Opening Weekend - Great New Food with High-Energy Shows

¡Viva la Fiesta! has returned to Six Flags Over Texas on weekends through May 4. Join us for a full review of the event's opening weekend, including a look at their executive chef's latest food creation from La Cantina. We also check out exclusive event merch, enjoy Ballet Folklorico and mariachi performances and explore the vibrant decor and photo ops that span from Silver Star Mall through the Mexico section.

Decor & Photo Opportunities

Centralized near the park’s main entrance and Mexico section, guests find vibrant decor and photo opportunities. This includes larger-than life guitars with refreshed ¡Viva la Fiesta! branding and banners. In Mexico, hand-painted wing photo opportunities have popped up, along with a large “Mexico” backdrop near El Sombrero.

Rolling Out New Food

La Cantina has seen a refresh and revamp of its menu, offering up tortas, elote and other Latin-inspired selections just in time for ¡Viva la Fiesta! Leo’s Churro Bar food truck can be found in the park’s Mexico section, serving churros and churro sundaes with a wide selection of sweet flavor add-ons. Casa de las Banderas has rolled out event-specific frozen alcoholic beverages and cocktails. Guests of any age can also find a handful of mocktail options this year, which don’t feature alcohol. The full menu of offerings can be found on our event guide.

Entertainment Returns

One of the greatest parts of ¡Viva la Fiesta! is the themed entertainment found on pathways and outdoor stages. Las Estrellas de Tejas makes their return with high-energy dances and more performers than before. They can be found at both the Mexico Gazebo and Silver Star Carousel Stage throughout the day. Mariachi Bohemio debuts in 2025, playing classic mariachi hits. The Fort Worth-based group performs their sets at the Mexico Gazebo. Looney Tunes dance parties, along with DJ Virah, also take place near the front of the park.

¡Viva la Fiesta! brings life and new activities to the park, which is great now that Spring Break is over and summer operations await. The event doesn’t spread throughout the park, so don’t expect to make a day of it. However, it is a great way to take a break from thrill rides and enjoy some live music and food while relaxing. Though Six Flags Over Texas is contending with widespread construction projects and upgrades, we expect additional decor pieces and photo opportunities to pop up throughout the Silver Star Mall and Mexico areas as the event continues on.
