Park Areas

Six Flags Over Texas opened in 1961 with six major defined park areas. New sections, such as Boomtown and Tower, were added as the park expanded in the 1960s. Today, Six Flags Over Texas features seven themed areas.

Boomtown

The Boomtown section was added to Six Flags Over Texas in 1963. Considered a historical add-on of the USA area, Boomtown replicates a turn-of-the-century oil town in Texas. The area is home to the first ever mine train roller coaster, Runaway Mine Train, and a handful of other family-friendly attractions.
