Six Flags Over Texas Wins 'Best New Show' at Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards
From fireworks and multi-media to audience interaction to drones to traditional song and dance — the offerings were impressive. Six Flags Over Texas took the top bill with “Christmas at the Southern Palace.” The 25-member cast dazzled audiences with soaring vocals, beautiful costumes and a live band. Packed houses leapt to their feet at each holiday performance.

Ride Spotlight - Pirates of Speelunker Cave
Pirates of Speelunker Cave opened at Six Flags Over Texas on May 14, 2022. Riders board the attraction and venture into Speelunker Cave. Soon enough, you are greeted by a band of pirates looking for lost treasure. Upon bracing a storm, a kraken, mermaids and more, the exploration takes riders deep into Speelunker territory.
Fright Fest Prep Ramps Up, Other Park Improvements, Single Rider Updates

Though the opening of Aquaman: Power Wave has been delayed another year, construction still marches on. Aquaman: Power Wave Debut Delayed Again to 2023
Today, Six Flags Over Texas announced that Aquaman: Power Wave, North America’s first PowerSplash attraction, will now be opening in spring of 2023. Aquaman: Power Wave’s history has featured several twists and turns due to the worldwide pandemic and design changes. Originally set to open in 2020, the attraction will be the park’s fifteenth roller coaster.
New Aquaman Progress, Updates on Ride Closures & Dining Offerings
New construction progress is taking place at Aquaman: Power Wave. Plus, learn more about the high level of ride closures at the park, including Roaring Rapids and Titan. Pirates of Speelunker Cave Opens at Six Flags Over Texas | Full Ride POV, Queue Walk-Through & More
Pirates of Speelunker Cave is a re-imagining of one of the park’s first attractions, The Cave, that operated from 1964 until 1991 and replaces the current version of the attraction—Yosemite Sam and the Gold River Adventure. The Cave featured original characters called Speelunkers that were created exclusively for Six Flags Over Texas.
Pirates of Speelunker Cave to Open Saturday, May 14
Six Flags Over Texas has announced that Pirates of Speelunker Cave, an all-new ride experience, will make its debut on Saturday, May 14, 2022. This state-of-the-art attraction will place guests squarely in the middle of a pirate treasure hunt thwarted by resident Speelunkers.
Six Flags Over Texas Updates 2022 Park Map, Removing Rides, Pathways & More, Daffy Duck Bucket Blasters Update
Six Flags Over Texas recently released an updated 2022 park map that includes the blocking out of multiple flat ride attractions, park pathways, cancellation of a planned dining location and more. Casa Magnetica to Close Until Fall
Six Flags Over Texas has announced that Casa Magnetica will close at the end of their Spring Break celebration on March 20. Though it is scheduled to remain down through the summer months, the park has noted that Casa Magnetica is planned to reopen in the fall.
Belly-Down Ride Experience Comes to Texas SkyScreamer
Six Flags Over Texas has announced that the all-new “Extreme Flying Experience” comes to Texas SkyScreamer for a limited time. Guests can trade in the standard swing seat for a flight suit and experience Texas SkyScreamer laying belly-down.

Six Flags Over Texas Decade in Review | 1970 - 1979
Our next episode in the Six Flags Over Texas Decade in Review Series takes a look at 1970 through 1979. Several transformations happened around the park, including a change in the skyline with the addition of Texas Chute Out and the debut of Good Time Square. Other prime attractions included the Big Bend and Shock Wave roller coasters, along with marquee flat rides like Spinnaker.
