Construction Updates
Pirates of Speelunker Cave (Update 4), Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 14), Various Park-Wide Projects
Work on the exterior of Pirates of Speelunker Cave has picked up as crews continue to transform the new entrance and outdoor queue. On the other side of the park, the turntable for Aquaman: Power Wave is beginning to take shape with some parts now onsite. Other big improvements, including a refresh of the Looney Tunes facade and Silver Star Carousel building, also continue.
Miscellaneous Capital Improvements
Several capital improvements continue around the park, including a new roof for the Buffalo Trading Post gift shop, an expansion of the Lone Star Twisters dining location, a new photo op mural in the Old South section and more.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 13), Pirates of Speelunker Cave (Update 3), Mr. Freeze (Update 3), Front Gate & More
Work continues on several projects at Six Flags Over Texas. Aquaman: Power Wave and Pirates of the Deep Sea continue to progress for their 2022 opening. Painting of the Mr. Freeze roller coaster appears all but complete. Major changes and improvements have also taken place in the park’s Front Gate and Old South sections.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 12), Pirates of Speelunker Cave (Update 2), Mr. Freeze Paint Job (Update 2), Parking Lot & Building Refurbishments
Aquaman: Power Wave’s turntable is taking shape as footers and new concrete begin to appear. Work also continues on the new entrance to the Pirates of Speelunker Cave attraction, along with the fresh paint job on Mr. Freeze. Other active projects include the parking lot repave and refurbishment of buildings in the Texas and Old South sections.
Pirates of Speelunker Cave (Update 1), Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 11), Mr. Freeze Paint Job
Several ride-related projects are taking place around Six Flags Over Texas. Work continues on the new turntable addition for Aquaman: Power Wave, Mr. Freeze: Reverse Blast is currently receiving a fresh paint job and a new entrance and facade has been constructed for the upcoming Pirates of Speelunker Cave attraction.
Looney Tunes Mall (Update 3), Various Park-Wide Improvement Projects
Several park-wide improvements and changes are taking place at Six Flags Over Texas, including more work on the new Looney Tunes Mall facade, fresh paint on multiple buildings, the demolition of Back Porch Stage, pathway expansions and more.
Aquaman: Power Wave Construction Tour (Update 10)

Pandemonium Paint Job, Looney Tunes Mall (Update 2)
The repainting of Pandemonium continues as just a few track and support segments remain. The ride is also having a covered structure built over its transfer area. The Looney Tunes Mall facade, minus the support structure, is completely gone. Work appears to have halted on this project for the time being as construction dumpsters have been removed.
Pandemonium Paint Job, Looney Tunes Mall (Update 1)
A new paint job is under way on Pandemonium as the roller coaster receives its first refresh since opening in 2008. Six Flags Over Texas is also quickly working on the demolition of the Looney Tunes Mall exterior facade.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 9)
After over a year hiatus, construction picks back up on the park’s 2022 attraction, Aquaman: Power Wave. With the new addition of a turntable, crews work to demolish parts of the previous station structure. Station track pieces have also been removed to make way for the change.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 1)
Aquaman: Power Wave has officially been confirmed as the park’s new attraction for 2020! Crews have completely cleared out the former site of Aquaman Splashdown and the first shipment of parts for the all-new Mack Rides PowerSplash attraction has arrived.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 8)
Six Flags Over Texas reopens after months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A structure, likely to house pumps and other electrical components, has been built. Construction overall, however, appears to have paused. Six Flags has also removed in-park banners and advertisements for the attraction.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 7)
All track and support pieces have been installed on Aquaman: Power Wave. Work still continues on the ride’s trough section and future station. The new eating area at JB’s Smokehouse BBQ has also rapidly progressed as walls and a roof have been installed.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 6)
Work has rapidly progressed on Aquaman: Power Wave, Six Flags Over Texas’ 2020 addition, as one of the ride’s 148-foot-tall spikes, along with track pieces and other elements have been constructed.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 5), Other Park Projects
Vertical construction has begun at Aquaman: Power Wave as the first support columns have been installed. Six Flags Over Texas has also begun construction of the all-new air-conditioned eating area at JB’s Smokehouse BBQ. Plus, other in-park refurbishment projects.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 4)
Work continues on Aquaman: Power Wave as more footers have been poured, the “trough” is taking shape, ride supports and additional supplies have arrived in the parking lot and more.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 3)
More footers have been poured for Aquaman: Power Wave. Crews have also prepped more footers to be poured in the near future and new equipment has also arrived to the construction site.
Aquaman: Power Wave (Update 2)
Aquaman: Power Wave construction continues to move forward as footers are now being poured at the ride’s future site.
Aquaman Splashdown (Update 7)
Aquaman Splashdown has been completely dismantled and removed from its former home at Six Flags Over Texas. A few other surrounding park elements have also been demolished in the process.
Aquaman Splashdown (Update 6)
The demolition of Aquaman Splashdown continues at a rapid pace. The ride’s lift hill has been deconstructed, along with the bottom of the main drop. The trough that once held water for the attraction has been transformed into a pile of dirt and debris.
