New Updates Heading Into the 2019 Season

We had the privilege of going to Winterfest, an American Coaster Enthusiasts event, on January 26. Six Flags Over Texas came to the event and gave us a few updates heading into the 2019 season. Below is a brief look at what was presented by the park.

Oil Derrick

  • Oil Derrick will be opening in 2019 after being closed all of the 2018 season for improvements.

  • All existing paint had to be taken off of the structure. Oil Derrick was then hand-painted with a total of 800 gallons of paint being used.

  • The elevator system also underwent a rehabilitation.

  • Oil Derrick also turns 50 years old this season.

Batman: The Ride

  • Batman: The Ride turns 20 years old this season.

  • Batman Day is on July 26 this year.

Splash! Water Parade

  • The Splash! Water Parade is coming to Six Flags Over Texas this summer.

  • The new parade concept will operate from July 8 until August 4 and will happen twice a day.

  • The park is describing the Splash! Water Parade as a, “Hurricane Harbor on wheels.”

  • Anyone watching the parade can expect to get quite wet.

El Diablo

  • The park recently announced that Lone Star Revolution, the new-for-2019 attraction, will instead be called El Diablo.

  • Originally set to be installed in Tower, El Diablo will now be installed in Spain near the exit of La Vibora.

  • The ride was set to be installed at the current location of Caddo Lake Barge. The park is not removing Caddo Lake Barge as previously rumored.

Other Notes

  • Six Flags Over Texas is hosting an event called Coasting for Kids this season. An exact date has yet to be announced.

  • Lone Star Coasterthon with the American Coaster Enthusiasts will take place on September 14 and 15.

  • CoasterDynamix roller coaster models of Titan and New Texas Giant will be coming to gift shops around the park this season for purchase.
